This is a little experiement in how we adapt to changes, create changing habits and re-learn or learn new things.
If your right hand dominant try using your left hand for things you would normally use your right hand for…
These immediate things come to mind…
- Brushing Your teeth
- Using your mouse on your computer
- Opening up the refrigerator or doors
- Making a sandwich
- Use your remote on your TV
- Eating
You probably get the idea… Whatever you do during the day use your non-dominant hand.
If your use to doing something one way, after a while it becomes the dominant way of doing things.
Every once in awhile if we try to change things up a bit it throws our brain off.
Its good trying experiments like this in your daily life to get use to change. Change is good!
Take note if things come up during the day where your like, I really don’t want to do this, its stupid. Besides what will using my left hand for one day do for me anyway…
Do this, make a commitment to yourself and do this for a whole 24 hours.
You might just notice that when you try this simple experiment that it relates to other parts of your life.
For extra credit try using your left hand for a week… dare I suggest 30 days…
You may even try this with other things. Be creative and do something that relates to a goal you currently have or a positive ritual you’d like to implement into your life.
Its easy to see how 1 day can lead to 1 week and then 30 days…
The funny thing is when we usually first start something were negative towards it and when we get better or more knowledgeable towards something the more we like it.
Try this experiment today and see!
Let me know in the comments section what other ideas we can use to stimulate our minds for change other than using our non dominant hand for a day.
